As a parent or coach, your reaction to a loss can have a direct impact on how your athletes process losing a game.

As the saying goes - the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.  Losing is often difficult for anyone and for youth it can result in tears, blame, anger or feelings of failure.  As a parent or coach, your reaction to a loss can have a direct impact on how your athletes process losing a game.  As Sportsmanship Month comes to an end, Liberty Mutual Insurance’s Play Positive® asks you, when your youth athlete/team loses, what is your initial reaction?

Teach, encourage, and model good sportsmanship in moments of winning and losing.   Read the Liberty Mutual Insurance Play Positive® article “Win and Lose with Class.

Helping your athlete handle a win or a loss with class can translate into how they can handle situations away from sports. See the slideshow “How to Win and Lose with Class” from Liberty Mutual Insurance’s Play Positive® initiative.

At Liberty Mutual Insurance, we believe that integrity matters. That’s why we created Play Positive®, powered by Positive Coaching Alliance, an initiative that promotes good sportsmanship to help ensure our kids have the fun and positive youth sports experience they deserve.
