LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — Taylor Wente (Plymouth, Minn.) and Presley Norby (Shorewood, Minn.) each tallied a goal and Alex Gulstene (Vancouver, Wash.) stopped all 10 shots she faced as the U.S. Women’s Under-18 Select Team defeated Canada, 2-0, in the second game of the 2015 Under-18 Series here today at the 1980 Herb Brooks Arena.

The two teams will play the rubber game of the three-game series here Sunday (Aug. 22) at 10 a.m. ET.

"We built off the first game and really pushed the tempo of the game," said Joel Johnson (White Bear Lake, Minn.), head coach of the U.S. Women's Under-18 Select Team. "We played a pretty strong game overall and our goaltender was there when we needed it."

The U.S. got on the board at 14:39 of the opening period when Norby skated out of the corner and put the puck towards the net where Wente jammed it past Canadian goaltender Stephanie Neatby. In the final minute of the period, Norby took a cross-crease pass from Catherine Skaja (New Prauge, Minn.) and tapped it in the open side of the net to account for the 2-0 final score.

The U.S. outshot Canada 28-10 in the game.
