Inaugural Development Camp Will Take Place May 21-24 In Blaine, Minnesota

USA Hockey announced today that it will conduct its inaugural U.S. Women's National Team Goaltending Development Camp from May 21-24, 2015 at Schwan's Super Center in Blaine, Minnesota.

Robb Stauber (Long Lake, Minn.), goaltending coach for the U.S. Women's National Team, is the head instructor and will be assisted by goaltending coaches Manon Rheaume (Northville, Mich.), Steve Guider (Blaine, Minn.) and Lucy Schoedel (Buffalo, N.Y.).

The camp consists of 18 of the top female goaltenders who are eligible for international play, including two-time Olympian Jessie Vetter (Cottage Grove, Wis.).

The players range in age from 16-29 and represent 11 different states. Minnesota leads the pack with four representatives, followed by Wisconsin with three and Connecticut and Illinois with two each. California, Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire and North Carolina all have one representative. Eight players are in college, eight in high school and two have graduated college.

A female-specific camp showcases the growth of women's hockey and is the natural evolution of the program, allowing more goaltenders to participate and the introduction of a curriculum that is specific to the women's game. In past years, female goalies have conducted their summer training with the top male goalies as part of USA Hockey's Warren Strelow National Team Goaltending Camp.

NOTES: Reagan Carey (Colorado Springs, Colo.), USA Hockey's director of women's hockey, is leading the camp ... Other members of the camp staff include head scout Matt Kelly (Hope, R.I.), scout Shawna Davidson (Duluth, Minn.), strength and conditioning coach Anthony Donskov (Columbus, Ohio), athletic trainer Sue Hammond (Fresno, Calif.), video coordinator Mat Myers (Manchester, N.H.) and equipment manager Brent Proulx (St. Paul, Minn.).
