Adam Page tallies four points to help spark U.S. offense

The U.S. National Sled Team shuts out Germany, 7-0, in its second preliminary contest of the 2015 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships tonight at the HARBORCENTER. Adam Page (Lancaster, N.Y.) helped lead the offensive charge with four points (2-2) and Josh Pauls (Green Brook, N.J.) picked up the Team USA Player of the Game honor.

"Today was a great confidence builder for our team as we take another step towards the medal round," said Jeff Sauer, head coach of the 2015 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. "I'm pleased with the poise we showed on the ice and how everyone had a opportunity to contribute."

In the first period, Team USA opened the scoring when Declan Farmer (Tampa, Fla.) ripped a shot from center ice past Germany goaltender Simon Kunst. Then 2:06 later, Page notched his first marker of the night on the power play with help from Paul Schaus (Buffalo, N.Y.). With under three minutes to play and Team USA again on the power play, Brody Roybal (Northlake, Ill.) fed Pauls to give the U.S. the 3-0 lead. Page picked up his second goal of the night to close the first period scoring.

Just 1:24 into the second frame, again on the power play, Schaus netted Team USA's fifth goal and his first of the tournament. Sam Mumper (Dublin, Ohio) rifled a shot from the left circle to tally his first goal as a member of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. Roybal closed the scoring for Team USA with 4:29 remaining in the game when his shot from the slot beat Kunst glove-side.

The U.S. National Sled Hockey Team closes preliminary-round action Wednesday (April 29) in a 2 p.m. matinee against Italy at HARBORCENTER. The game will be streamed live on NBC Sports Live Extra and will be aired on a same-day delay at approximately 10:30 p.m. ET following the network's NHL Stanley Cup playoff coverage.
