United States Looks to Rebound After Tough Loss to Russia


USA vs. Slovakia - The Series

The U.S. Men’s National Under-18 Team and Slovakia are meeting for the 10th time in IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship history, with Team USA owning a 7-0-0-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record in the all-time series. The U.S. has won each of its last seven games against the Slovakians, dating back to April 17, 2001. The last victory in the series for Team Slovakia came on April 17, 2000. The United States holds a 51-20 advantage in all-time goals, and has allowed two goals or less in each game since 2001. 

Team USA All-Time in the Preliminary Round

Today’s game is the 67th all-time preliminary-round contest for the U.S. at the IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship. Overall, Team USA boasts a 49-0-1-15-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) record in the group stage of the event. Since 2001, the United States is 47-0-1-9-1 in preliminary play, good for an .818 winning percentage during that stretch.
