Adam Page of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team took part in a variety of activities at Monday's Sabres game to help promote the upcoming 2015 International Paralympic Committee Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships, which will take place April 26 to May 3, 2015, at HARBORCENTER in Buffalo, New York.
Page, who will be competing in his fifth IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships, took part in a pre-game interview on MSG Network, did an intermission interview at First Niagara Center that ran on the video board, and interacted with fans in the arena at the USA Hockey demo booth brought to you by Labatt Blue, where he taught people the inner workings of the sport on roller sleds.
Since its debut on the world stage, sled hockey has quickly become one of the most exciting and competitive sporting events. The popularity and recognition of these amazing athletes continues to grow and this year's world championship promises to be the best yet.
The event will feature eight of the world's best sled hockey teams. Group A will consist of the defending champion Canada, Czech Republic, Norway and Japan. The U.S. will face Italy, Germany and Russia in Group B. All eight teams begin play on Sunday, April 26, highlighted by a rematch between the U.S. and Russia, who have met in the championship game in the last two major international tournaments.
