Joey Anderson Nets Lone U.S. Goal in Third Straight Game.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Jake Oettinger (Lakeville, Minn.) turned aside 41 shots as the U.S. National Under-17 Team fell to the Sioux City Musketeers, 4-1, here tonight at the Tyson Events Center. With the setback, the U17s dropped both decisions on their two-game road trip in Sioux City.

The Musketeers struck first at 10:03 of the opening period, redirecting a shot past Oettinger. Team USA earned three power-play chances in the frame but couldn't convert to find the equalizer and entered intermission down 1-0.

Sioux City came right out of the gate and scored 96 seconds into the second stanza. The Musketeers pushed their lead to three 1:18 later. Oettinger turned aside 16 shots in the period and had a total of 31 saves after 40 minutes of play.

Team USA fell behind 4-0 at the 2:51 mark of the third. Oettinger made the initial save but the puck bounced out and a cross-ice pass led to an open net. The U.S. struck at 5:43 on the power play when Luke Martin (St. Louis, Mo.) found Joey Anderson (Roseville, Minn.) on the left side of the net. Anderson fired the puck into the net for his third marker in as many games. It was as close as the Under-17 Team would get as they were held scoreless in the final 14:17 of the game.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team hits the ice again Friday, April 3, when it travels to Muskegon (Mich.) to face the Lumberjacks. Puck drop in the United States Hockey League contest is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET at L.C. Walker Arena and can be seen live on FASTHockey.com
