Boston Blades of the CWHL and U.S. Women’s National Under-18 Team recognized

In two separate acknowledgements at Thursday night's game, the Boston Bruins recognized the Boston Blades of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League for recently winning the 2015 Clarkson Cup, and the U.S. Women’s National Under-18 Team for its gold medal success at the IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship in January.

The Blades have several U.S. players who helped them earn the championship, including four members of Team USA who will be taking part in the IIHF Women’s World Championship next month. They are Brianna Decker, Hilary Knight, Monique Lamoureux and Kacey Bellamy. Decker was named top forward of the playoffs and Lamoureux was the best defenseman.

The U.S. Women’s Under-18 National Team will have three local players in attendance. They are goaltender Katie Burt and forwards Sammy Davis and Becca Gilmore.  On Jan. 12, the U.S. topped Canada, 3-2, in an exciting overtime victory to claim the gold medal, becoming the first team to do so on home soil in Buffalo, New York.
