Day 7

The U.S. National Sled Hockey Team conducted its final practice of the 2015 World Sled Hockey Challenge today at the Leduc Recreation Centre. Team USA will face Russia in the championship game tomorrow (Feb. 7) after defeating Korea, 8-0, yesterday. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. ET and can be streamed live on

This is the second consecutive international tournament in which the United States and Russia will face off in the championship game. Team USA defeated Russia, 1-0, in the gold medal game of the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

After their putt-putt challenge at the West Edmonton Mall ended in a tie, several members of Team USA took to the curling rink to decide a winner. The group – consisting of Steve Cash, Chris Douglas, Declan Farmer, Kevin McKee, and Brody Roybal – agreed to a curling challenge in which the person whose stone got closest to the center would win. Chris Douglas' shot proved to be the winner.

Throughout the 2015 World Sled Hockey Challenge, host Tanner Fandrey has accompanied Team USA. A Red Deer, Alberta, native, Fandrey is a current sled hockey player with the Edmonton Impact whose home rink is the Leduc Recreation Centre. For Team USA's last practice, coach Jeff Sauer invited Fandrey to join the team on the ice and afterwards presented him with a signed Team USA jersey.
