Day 1

Despite snowy conditions, the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team arrived safely in Leduc, Alberta, today for the World Sled Hockey Challenge that is set to begin Sunday, Feb. 1. Reunited a week after spending training camp in North Carolina, the team will get to work quickly. After checking into the hotel, the team will have lunch and then head to the Leduc Recreation Center for an 80-minute practice.

The 2015 World Sled Hockey Challenge is being staged at the 309,000 square foot Leduc Recreation Centre. The one-stop multi-use facility includes three hockey rinks, an aquatic centre, an eight-sheet BMO curling rink, a 9,000 square foot fitness center and track, and a field house that can accommodate badminton, basketball, floor hockey, pickle ball, volleyball and other sports.

Big Show, a WWE professional wrestler, was on the same plane to Edmonton as several members of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. The 7'0", 425 pound wrestler nicknamed the World's Largest Athlete spoke and took photos with some of the players, wishing them the best of luck for this year's World Sled Hockey Challenge. The seven-time world champion is in Edmonton for the WWE LIVE Road to WrestleMania event on Jan. 31.
