Team USA Outshoots the Chargers, 39-17.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Troy Terry (Highlands Ranch, Colo.)  and Matthew Tkachuk (St. Louis, Mo.) scored one goal each and goaltender Michael Lackey (Washington, D.C.) made 16 saves as the U.S. National Under-18 Team needed overtime to knock off the University of Alabama-Huntsville, 2-1, here today at the Von Braun Center. Team USA's record versus collegiate opponents moves to 8-7-2 (W-L-T) after the win with one NCAA game remaining against the Chargers tomorrow (Jan. 25).

Huntsville carried a 1-0 lead into the first intermission thanks to a goal by Brennan Saulnier and six saves by goaltender Carmine Guerriero.

Team USA controlled play throughout the second stanza, outshooting Huntsville, 17-1, and it finally paid off when Terry equaled the score 11:50 into the period. After a UAH shot sailed wide of Lackey, Terry scooped up the puck and raced through center with linemate Michael Floodstrand (Hinsdale, Ill.). Terry gained the zone, waited for Chargers goaltender Matt Larose to go down and then slid the puck five-hole for the unassisted tally.

Neither team found the back of the net in the third period, setting the stage for Tkachuk's game-winner in overtime. The play started with Tkachuk creating a turnover in his own end and turning it up ice. After gaining the zone, Tkachuk cut to the middle, slowed and fired a shot off Larose. The rebound sat in the crease just long enough for Tkachuk to skate in and poke the puck home for the game-winner.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team closes out its collegiate portion of the 2014-15 schedule versus Alabama-Huntsville tomorrow (Jan. 25). Puck drop is slated for 3:07 p.m. ET at the Von Braun Center.
