10th Anniversary Labatt Blue/USA Hockey Event Moved to Eagle River Derby Track

USA Hockey announced today that the 10th anniversary of the Labatt Blue/USA Hockey Pond Hockey National Championships, slated for Feb. 6-8 in Eagle River, Wisconsin, has been moved to the Eagle River Derby Track.

The event was slated to be played at Dollar Lake, however, due to player safety concerns, had to be shifted.

"Unfortunately Dollar Lake is not suitable to play on this year, but we're excited to have a great alternative in playing on outdoor rinks that will be constructed at and around the Eagle River Derby Track," said Ashley Bevan, senior director of adult hockey for USA Hockey. "One of the fun parts of the change will be the ability to play some games under the lights at the Derby Track. We're grateful to our partners at Labatt and in Eagle River for their assistance in making this alternate location possible. It's going to be a great event."

The Labatt Blue/USA Hockey Pond Hockey National Championships has grown from 40 teams and 240 athletes in 2006 to this year's field of 330 teams and more than 2,300 players.

This year's event will include an appearance by the Stanley Cup on Saturday (Feb. 7) evening's reception.

Competing teams in this year's event will be notified of all pertinent tournament details via email. Information will also be available at adulthockey.usahockey.com/pondhockey.
