Captains Named for 2015 U.S. National Junior Team

Eichel named captain, Butcher & Hayden to serve as alternate captains

KINGSTON, Ontario – Forward Jack Eichel (North Chelmsford, Mass./Boston University) has been named captain of the 2015 U.S. National Junior Team it was announced today by USA Hockey.

In addition, defenseman Will Butcher (Sun Prairie, Wis./University of Denver) and forward John Hayden (Greenwich, Conn./Yale University) were tabbed alternate captains of the squad.

“We’ve got a great leadership group,” said Mark Osiecki, head coach of the 2015 U.S. National Junior Team. “Between Jack, Will and John, along with a number of other guys as well, this team is on solid ground in terms of leaders.”

Eichel, who is currently the leading scorer in NCAA Division I men’s ice hockey as a freshman at Boston University (8-19—27), was an alternate captain for the 2014 U.S. National Under-18 Team that captured the gold medal at the IIHF U18 Men’s World Championship in Lappeenranta, Finland.

Both Hayden and Butcher were alternate captains of the silver medal-winning 2013 U.S. National Under-18 Team that competed in the IIHF U18 Men’s World Championship in Sochi, Russia.
