Team USA Outshoots RoughRiders, 35-28, in Game

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Joey Anderson (Roseville, Minn.) netted two goals but the U.S. National Under-17 Team was upended by the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, 4-2, here tonight at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. Team USA dropped both games this weekend versus Cedar Rapids, the top team in the United States Hockey League.

The RoughRiders notched two power-play goals late in the first frame to take a 2-0 lead over Team USA. The U.S. sent 15 shots on net in the period, but Ben Blacker was up to the task, stopping all U.S. chances.

Anderson cut the Cedar Rapids lead in half, potting a goal 46 seconds into the second stanza. Clayton Keller (Swansea, Ill.) and Nick Pastujov (Bradenton, Fla.) assisted on the tally. Midway through the period the RoughRiders regained their two-goal advantage.

The second marker by Anderson, scored at the 12:12 mark in the third, pulled Team USA within one goal once again. James Greenway (Potsdam, N.Y.) earned an assist on the play. However, a late strike by Cedar Rapids was enough insurance for the RoughRiders as they held on to get by the U17s, 4-2.

Jake Oettinger (Lakeville, Minn.) got the nod in net for Team USA and kicked out 24 shots in the loss. Blacker made 33 total saves in the victory for Cedar Rapids.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team next travels to Bloomington, Illinois for a match-up against the Thunder on Nov. 28. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. The game is available via online streaming at FASTHockey.com.
