The Sioux City Musketeers closed out the 2014 Junior Club World Cup with a bronze medal after defeating Dynamo Shinnik of Belarus 4-3 in overtime on Saturday afternoon in Ufa, Russia.

The Musketeers fell behind early when Dynamo Shinnik scored midway through the opening frame and then made it 2-0 less than three minutes later.  But the USHL team would respond shortly after when Adam Johnson scored seven minutes into the period, his tournament-leading sixth goal over five games at the JCWC.

A little over three minutes into the second frame, Joel Janatuinen evened the game with his third goal of the tournament.  Dynamo regained the lead less than six minutes later and the teams skated into the second intermission with the score 3-2.

Early in the third period, the Musketeers again scored the equalizer when defensemen Jerad Rosburg ripped a shot from the blueline that found the back of the net, his first goal of the tournament.  The teams battled back and forth the rest of the way, but the game remained tied at the end of 60 minutes and went to overtime. 

Two and half minutes into the extra session, Sam Kurker skated down the right side and ripped a shot past the Belarus goaltender to secure the 4-3 victory for the Musketeers and start the celebration for the U.S. squad.  It was the third goal of the tournament for Kurker.

Collin Olson earned his fourth victory of the JCWC, making 27 saves in the bronze medal game.

The victory by the Sioux City Musketeers made it the third consecutive year that the USHL and United States representative claimed a medal.  The Dubuque Fighting Saints earned bronze last year while the Waterloo Black Hawks captured the silver medal in 2012.

Sioux City finished the JCWC in Ufa, Russia with four victories and two losses.
