Girls Select 15: Day Four Recap

The final day of play at the Select 15 camp on July 24 opened with a 2-2 tie between Team Black and Team Grey. In the opening period, Team Grey’s Stella Haberman and Team Black’s Carlie Magier both scored goals. In the second period, Grey’s Taylor Wente made it 2-1 before Magier added her second goal of the game to tie it at 2-2.

In the second contest of the day, Team Blue charted an 8-2 victory over Team Gold. Elizabeth Gross scored the opening goal for Team Blue and Team Gold’s Catherine Skaja also added a first period marker to make it 1-1. In the second period, Team Blue turned up the heat with seven goals to ice the game. Grace Zumwinkle, Lydia Passolt and Ellen Barney all had two goals apiece in the second period for Team Blue.

In the final game of the day on July 24, Team Red earned a 3-2 victory over Team Green. Greta Skarzynski opened the scoring in the first for Team Green, while Katie Cipra tied the game for Team Red with her first period marker. Team Red’s Kaitlyn Blumberg provided her team with a 2-1 lead in the second period. Team Green tied the game at 2-2 later in the second period with a goal by Taylor Curtis.  In the OT period, Natalie Heising charted the game winner for Team Red. Goalies Elizabeth Hanson and Kate Froling combined to chart 15 saves and the win for Team Red. This game marked the conclusion of the Select 15 camp at St. Cloud State University’s Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn.

The eighth annual Hockey Weekend Across America, presented by CCM, will be staged nationwide Feb. 20- 22. More information on the celebration will be coming in the months ahead.
