One-Day Hiatus: Please note that competition play will resume on Friday, July 18.  Thursday will be reserved for practices and two off-ice presentations for participants.

Impressive Showings: Wednesday's action was highlighted by a few noteworthy performances on both the offensive and defensive side of things.:

  • Red's Isaac Johnson (No. 18) buried four goals in a decisive 8-1 win over Columbia.
  • Gold's Scott Reedy (No. 10) recorded five points (2G, 3A) in an 8-4 victory over Kelly.
  • Forest's Ryan Bischel (No. 1) and Joe Dragonjac (No. 30) combined to stop all 24 shots faced in a 2-0 shutout win over Navy.

Next in Line?: If his three older brothers are any indication, Orange's Baker Shore (No. 9) should be on the radar of hockey fans across the nation. All three are current NHL prospects, as Drew (drafted 44th overall by Florida in 2009), has spent the last two seasons between the AHL and NHL squads of the Florida Panthers organization, Nick (drafted 82nd overall by Los Angeles in 2011) spent the past season with the Manchester Monarchs (AHL), while Quentin (drafted 168th overall by Ottawa in 2013) just completed his sophomore season at the University of Denver.

Keeping It in the Family: Two players at this week's camp have both a father and uncle who enjoyed extended NHL careers.

Navy's Kelton Hatcher (No. 5) is the son and nephew of former NHLers Derian and Kevin Hatcher, respectively. Derian spent most of his 16-year and 1,045 game NHL career with the Dallas Stars, winning a Stanley Cup in 1999 and being selected to the 1997 NHL All-Star Game. In addition, the bruising defender twice represented the United States at the Winter Olympic games (1998 & 2006). Kevin, meanwhile, appeared in 1,157 NHL games during his 17-year career, over which he was selected to five NHL All-Star Games (1990, 1991, 1992, 1996 & 1997). The two brothers were simultaneously inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2010.

Likewise, Red goaltender, Cayden Primeau (No. 1), is the son and nephew of former NHL forwards Keith and Wayne Primeau, respectively. Keith registered 619 points over 909 career games in addition to partaking in two NHL All-Star Games (1999 & 2004) and one Winter Olympic Games (1998). Wayne suited-up for six different NHL squads over his 774 game career, earning 194 points.
