Break in the Action: Please note that competition play will resume on Thursday, July 17. Wednesday will be reserved for practices and off-ice activities which participants will attend.

What's in Store: This week's camp will feature male and female sled hockey players ages 13-32 with the purpose of identifying, training and educating the top sled hockey athletes in the United States. Attendees for camp are chosen by the Player Development Committee from recommendations of sled hockey coaches nationwide. In addition to competition game-play, participants will also partake in daily practices as well as other off-ice activities.

Sled Hockey “Crash-Course”: Sled hockey was invented at a Stockholm, Sweden rehabilitation center in the early 1960s by a group of Swedes who, despite their physical disability, wanted to continue playing hockey.

Sled hockey follows most of the typical ice hockey rules, while players sit in specially designed sleds that sit on top of two hockey skate blades. There are also two sticks for each player, which contain metal pics on the butt end for players to maneuver around the ice.

White Opens with Shutout Win: White's Sam Mumper (No. 13) netted the contest's only goal and netminder Jorge Medrano (No. 17) stopped all 13 shots faced as White edged Red by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. Between the pipes for Red, Kyle Huckaby (No. 17) finished with 18 saves.

Navy Prevails in First Shootout: Navy defeated Gold by a score of 4-3 in the camp's first game to require a shootout to determine its victor. Chandler Couture (No. 14) recorded a pair of goals in regulation for Navy, while Jack Wallace also lit the lamp in the winning effort. For Gold, Trevor Bunch (No. 13) and Dave Phillips (No. 11) tallied two points apiece.
