NTDP Intern Coach

USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program, located in Ann Arbor, Mich., is inviting applications for the position of Intern Assistant Coach for U.S. National Under-18 Team. This position is designed for a motivated, detail-oriented person looking to pursue coaching as a career. It is a two-year, stipend-based, 20-month appointment, running from approximately August 15, 2013- June 15, 2015.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in planning, organizing and running effective, high-tempo practices
  • Contribute to system work, special teams and general skill development
  • Help schedule, plan and run team meetings and events
  • Teach athletes in individual and group settings
  • Conduct opponent pre-scouts, including system breakdown and player summaries 
  • Video analysis of opponents and game breakdown
  • Manage all video equipment and game day set up
  • Coordinate team travel, schedule team meals, pre-game skates, etc.
  • Supervise and manage players in locker room, weight room, and other like settings
  • Assist academic advisor in regulating school attendance, grades, and school policies
  • Act as a liaison to billet families and conduct daily curfew call
  • Work with goaltending coach with on-ice skill development during goalie sessions
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Citizen of the United States
  • One-to-two years of coaching experience is preferred although not required
  • Playing experience at the junior, collegiate or professional level
  • Understanding video software technologies, such as XOS Thunder systems
  • Computer literate, including knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Knowledge of USA Hockey, NCAA, IIHF and USHL rules and regulations
  • Domestic and international travel required (must have valid passport)
