U.S. National Developmental Sled Team Sweeps Canada

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The U.S. National Developmental Sled Hockey Team swept a three-game series against the Canadian National Sled Development Team last weekend (Jan. 22-24) at Western Fair Sports Centre in London, Ontario.

The U.S. won the opener vs. Canada, 2-1, in overtime on Wednesday (Jan. 22). Josh Misiewicz (Lagrange, Ill.) scored the game-tying goal in the third period and notched the game-winner early in overtime. On Thursday (Jan. 23), Team USA built a 3-0 lead on goals by Vlad Lundquist (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Tim Jones (Montephram, N.J.) and Chris Douglas (Saint Cloud, Fla.) en route to a 3-1 victory. The U.S. won the Friday (Jan. 24) finale, 2-1, in a shootout. Dan McDevitt (Abington, Pa.) scored a second-period goal and all three U.S. shooters tallied in the shootout. Goaltender Kyle Huckaby (Port Author, Texas) backstopped Team USA in all three wins. He stopped 33-of-36 shots faced.

The U.S. National Developmental Sled Team heads to Indian Trail, N.C., Feb. 20-23, to help the U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team prepare for the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia ... The final event of the season for the U.S. National Developmental Sled Hockey Team will be a three-game series against Canada April 14-19 in Indian Trail, N.C.
