Pre-Season Clinics,Team Try Outs & Player Evaluations

In preparation for the season ahead, the Jets have announced the pre-season clinic and tryout schedule (see attached). We will be offering four (4) pre-season clinics for all ages! We will also be offering a new Girls U14 Team!

The format for Squirt, Pee Wee & Bantam tryouts will be different than in years past. The aim is to limit the numbers of players on the ice, concentrated by appropriate skill level, in order to allow for a more effective player evaluation at the older age groups.

The Mite Player Evaluations will be similar to last year. The Mites are expected to attend at least two of the three evaluations. We will offer two Girls U14 Player Evaluations.

For the Squirt, Pee Wee and Bantam tryouts everyone is expected to attend Tryout #1. After Tryout #1, you will be invited back for either Tryout #2 and/or Tryout #3. The sole purpose of this is to maximize the number of opportunities a player has during tryout scrimmages and drills to display their capabilities. If you are not at Tryout #1, you will automatically be assigned to Tryout #3.

Information regarding player’s invitation to Tryout #2 or Tryout #3 will be posted for each age group on the CHC website following Tryout#1.

Please bear in mind that players wishing to play on the top team in each age group should attend Tryout #1 and demonstrate a good combination of strengths in the following areas:

Skating ability; puck handling/passing skills; competitiveness (wanting the puck and battling to get it); on-ice awareness & athleticism (power, strength, balance)

Furthermore, a player wishing to play on the top team should be prepared to make the commitment to attend both an early-bird tournament in September and a holiday tournament.
