USA Hockey's NTDP in Ann Arbor - a look inside

Home of the U-17 and U-18 National teams

13 players from the U-18 Team were selected in the 2007 NHL draft

If you're serious about having a hockey career, this is where all youth hockey players should be striving to play. This is not your local high school team. Not even close. This is the real deal. The cream of the crop, the elite, reside here. And cream rises to the top. This is an academy of sorts, but for hockey. The players, selected at festivals and try-out camps, are from all over the US and live with a host family, going to school at Ann Arbor Pioneer while here, but play their hockey for Team USA. Your ACE Director served a coaching internship at the NTDP with the U-17 team during the 2006-07 season, participating in on-ice practices with both the U-17 and U-18 teams, off-ice conditioning and dryland training, breakdown of game video with both players and coaches, all phases of game day preparations, observing games from the press box, and actively participating in game discussions with the U-17 coaches between periods and after each game. At this time, I would like to extend a "Thank you" to John Hynes, head coach of the U-17 team; Patrick Foley and P.J. Deluca, assistant coaches of the U-17 team; Randy Wilson, goalie coach for both the U-17 and U-18 teams and the OHL's Saginaw Spirit; Andrew Madden, manager of marketing and media relations; the entire NTDP staff; and of course both the U-17 and U-18 players; for treating me excellent and making this an experience of a lifetime.
