Friends of the Ice Arena:
Back in the early 70’s a dedicated group of hockey and figure skating families worked hard to see the dream of having a premier ice sports facility in their neighborhood. Because of their persistence and the support of the park board of commissioners and staff, the Franklin Park Ice Arena opened for business on September 7, 1974. Thirty-five years later, this facility continues to be a leader in the ice industry.
Another milestone was recently achieved at the ice arena. Judy Caracci, Arena Services Supervisor celebrated her twenty-fifth year of full time employment on May 23, 2008. She began working part time in 1973 and this November will mark her thirty-fifth anniversary with the park district. Judy continues to be an icon at the FPIA. Her customer service is unsurpassed and her kindness is well known among everyone. As often as people change careers these days it is unusual to find an employee as dedicated at Judy Caracci. Please congratulate her on these great achievements the next time you are in the ice arena.
With the many challenges that our families face today, we have committed to keeping our rates the same for the 2008-09 season. In addition, we will continue to seek out ways to conserve energy and our natural resources. We encourage you to enjoy the many local offerings outlined in this annual guide.
