2/5-Varsity beats Maine 7-2 in a physical & poorly officiated game. A goal each by M.D'Agostino (2 assists), J.Massaro (power-play), J.Roever (GAME WINNER), T.Wahl (power-play), C.Gallant (power-play), J.Segerson (4 assists!) & M.Opfer (assist) showed the Maniacs the Trojans had lots of scoring power. Clean checking by A.Rzeczkowski (assit too), M.Olszewski, M.Panko, J.Martin & P.Snell showed this Trojan team was not going to be intimidated on the road. Good D from the Ulreich brothers & J.Hill plus the constant energizer-bunny hustle from E. (peacemaker) Hansen & T.Prichard made this a complete-team/hard fought victory. As usual, M.Rowe was solid in goal stopping 6 of 7 short handed situations & making 29 saves.

2/6-Varsity BEATS Barrington 4-3 at their rink!! CG came into the game with a Metro Central record of 10-11-2 (8-2-1 since mid-December) and Barrington was 22-0-1. M.Opfer gave the Trojans a lead they never relinquished, at 6:25 of the first period on a pretty assist from M.D'Agostino & C.Gallant's slapper from the point (assist J.Roever) with 1:49 remaining gave the team lots of confidence after 1. Barrington scored on a power-play with 3:50 left in the 2nd but CG answered that on a hustle/dig out of the corner play by J.Massaro-pass to J.Segerson-pass to T.Wahl standing in front of the net at 1:15 to take a 3-1 lead after 2. M.Rowe had 26 saves in the first 2 periods & CG only had 13 shots. Barrington scored (seemed to all Trojan-fans that it was the home teams second favorable goal call of the night) 48 seconds into the 3rd period but 3 minutes later Massaro found the back of the net with the eventual GAME WINNER (assists to Opfer/Segerson) to give the team some breathing room at 4-2 with 10 minutes of hockey left. Not wanting to make it easy, CG was called for 4 penalties in a row starting at 8:33 to go.  Rowe and the team were successful for 4-5 minutes of 5-on-3 disadvantages which gave Barrington many terrific chances. With 53 seconds left & Barrington's goalie pulled Barrington scored to make it 4-3. As the final seconds ticked off the clock it felt like the team had just won the Super Bowl because nobody could remember a CGHC team every beating the Broncos. Rowe finished with 39 saves & maybe the biggest smile of his life to 13 saves for Barrington goalies. The back-checking & defense played by CG was awesome to watch.CONGRATS TO THE COACHES & PLAYERS ON A GREAT WIN & SUPER EFFORT-next week doesn't get any easier playing some of the big-boys in the Scholastic division play-offs but this game should be an excellent confidence booster for this team
