Parent and Coach Tips of the Week (2/1/11)

Parent Tip of the Week -

Help your young athlete to understand the value of a good opponent. Good opponents bring out the best in us. Model this attitude by talking about opponents respectfully. Never demonize the opponent as "the enemy".

Coach Tip of the Week - Implement "Positive Charting" recording positive efforts and plays made during practices or games. List all your players with space to note two or three of their specific positive acts.

    USA/CAHA Helmet Policy Enforcement

During the past season, CAHA has received several complaints regarding coaches on the ice during sanctioned practices and scrimmages without wearing an ice hockey helmet.  All ice hockey coaches and instructors of registered USA Hockey youth, high school, disabled, girls/women’s 19 & under and below programs must properly wear an approved ice hockey helmet during all on-ice sessions, including practices, controlled scrimmages, select camps, try-outs and coaches and referee clinics (seminars) as defined in the 2009-2010 USA Hockey Annual Guide, helmet policy, page 135. Please see the attached memo from CAHA President Steve Laing outlining the Helmet Policy Enforcement policy and specific implementation.CAHA Helmet Policy
