AGE GROUPS

Age groups defined

Each age group is determined by Minnesota hockey rules. If you are within the age as of June 30 you still qualify to play in that age group.

you must be 6 years old or younger on June 30th to play 6U.

you must be 8 years old or younger on June 30th to play 8U

you must be 10 years old or younger on June 30th to play 10U

you must be 12 years old or younger on June 30th to play 12U

you must be 14 years old or younger on June 30th to play 14U

Some summer leagues determine age groups by birth year, I.E. 96/97 birth year teams play only their birth year. However some girls on this team may be playing at the 12/14 levels depending on if their birthday is before or after June 30th.

See Minnesota Hockey age classification 2008/2009 for reference.

REGISTRATION

Registration: Takes place in the fall at BIG. Tables are set up for Jefferson, Kennedy, the Girls program and Community C program.

Girls from anywhere in Bloomington can sign up for hockey with the girls program. Waivers are approved if the team is hosted outside of the area the girl lives in. Kennedy hosts 10U and 14U teams. Jefferson hosts 6U, 8U and 12U teams. Any other girls that do not live in Bloomington must have their hockey district approve their waiver before Bloomington can register her. Please contact your natural hockey association (where you live) if you have questions about waiving to Bloomington girls hockey.
