| March 6, 2003 AHA BOARD MEETING MINUTES MARCH 6, 2003 ATTENDANCE: Mark Ryan - President, Sue Tull - Vice President, Paul Petrarca - Travel Director, Rusty Schimelpfening - House/Rec Director BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Brian King, Rusty Schimelpfening, Neil Deininger, Tom Lundeen, Barry Kerr, Carol Ann Pierce, Phil Collins, Randy Millsap, Karen Scott OTHERS IN ATTENDANCE: Al Fowler, Susan Collins, Marilyn Martin, Jim Sculley, Joe Healy, Ed David, Jennifer Johnson, Jay Gaddy, Steve Jones, Alma Case, Johnny Case CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Mark Ryan at 6:10 p.m. Mark Ryan requested the Task Force make their presentation first followed by the regular agenda. Discussion of assignment of coaches -reasoning for independent selection -choosing coaches before decisions on teams are made -AHA Board will get together and decide separately * Is board meeting allowed privately? -suggest kids do exit review/input on coaches Discussion regarding Team Formation -skill assessment to objectively evaluate rather than subjectively decide travel vs. house -desire to travel Comments from attendees -inhouse program critical -ice shortage -if travel and house combine practices that will free up ice time Communication -scheduling conflicts for double registered players -grievance committee -incorporate changes Jay Gaddy indicates the rink can make more ice available. Sue Tull suggested skills competition and suggested the board get together before the next meeting with Marilyn to come up with conclusions. Neil Deininger took minutes due to the absence of Georgia Abner, Secretary. MINUTES The minutes of the December 2002 and January 2003 meetings were not approved. The February meeting had to be postponed until today due to inclement weather. NOMINATIONS Sue Tull will accept nominations through the end of the meeting for the 2003-2004 AHA Board of Directors. REGISTRARS REPORT Registrar not present at this time. It was noted that Susan Collins will be moving to New Jersey. DIVISION REPORTS Travel - Paul Petrarca reports the Travel Bantams will be playing in Nashville, TN this weekend in the league tournament. The Travel Midgets will be playing in Birmingham, AL this weekend in their league tournament. There will be several seniors graduating and moving to play in the mens league. The 3rd Annual Kalley Lundeen Tournament will be played in Little Rock on March 15-16, 2003. Mallory Case has been selected to the Girls Team South. House/Rec - At the tournament in Memphis, all 4 divisions went to the championship rounds. The Peewees won their division. Britney Ryan has been selected to the Girls Team South. Adult - The adult league will no longer be affiliated with USA Hockey in order to allow midget or older youth to play in the adult league. All are invited to play now through September. This will be on a trial basis. The youths skill level will be subject to the adult team captains approval on an individual basis. All youth will be required to sign a waiver of liability.
