2008-2009 Ice Schedule Finalized

The 2008-2009 Ice Schedule  has been finalized.  AMHA will be sponsoring open hockey on Saturday, October 4th.  Hockey practice for all divisions Mite and above begins on Monday, October 6th.  Initiation/Tyke program fall session begins October 25th

2008-2009 Coaches and Coordinators Approved

Meet the Cyclones Halloween Bash

Be sure to get to the rink early on Thursday October 30th from 5:15-6:30pm for Meet the Cyclones Halloween Bash.

Activities will include all AMHA Skaters, Coaches and Parents.  Enjoy skating with the team in an open skate atmoshphere with music from 5:15 to 6:15.  The high school team and staff will sign posters until. Halloween Costumes are allowed, in fact they are encouraged.

ISU Football Program Fundraiser 

Here is a fun, new way to raise $$$ for AMHA!   AMHA has partnered with ISU football to sell football programs before and during home football games. Kids can sell programs but must be accompanied by an adult.  Therefore if your kids want to sell programs, please sign up together so we have a nearly even mix of volunteers.

Board Members Approve Fees for 2008-2009 Season

The budget process for the 2008-2009 season was completed and approved during the July Board meeting.  Division fees held steady; while ice costs increased by 5% for the second straight year.  Greens sales skater fee credits were approved to increase to 30%.  The Corporate Sponshorship program has been revamped to accommodate the $50 sponsorship level and the High School Program Book has been redesigned to cut printing expenses.

Taking to the ice

Ames Life and Times - January 24, 2008 Happy days are here again. Cold, icy happy days. Ames has an outdoor ice rink.  "Back, as far as the 1960s and 1970s we had outdoor ice rinks," says Ames Parks and Recreation Parks Supervisor Kevin Shawgo. "We flooded the tennis courts at several parks. That gave us outdoor ice."  But somewhere along the line, Shawgo said, someone decided the ice was bad for the tennis court surfaces. So the program stopped.
