January 7, 2008 This year saw a large number of players tryout for a spot at the District Select Tryout. The quality of players made this years selection process very difficult. If you were selected, congratulations. If you were not, I know it is disappointing but I hope you will work on those areas of your game that need improvement and we will see you next year at tryouts. Alaska is allocated a certain number of players in each age group. The players that were selected for those spots are listed in alphabetical order. Alaska often gets a few extra spots to help fill out the teams at the tryout. The players that are listed as alternates may be selected to fill these spots. If you have been selected, please check back here towards the end of the month for more information regarding the District Tryout. There will be additional forms you will need to fill out as well as the fee for that camp. I am waiting to hear back from the District personnel as to the cost of that camp. As soon as I know that figure, the information needed along with the forms will be posted. PLEASE NOTE:If you have been selected and you choose NOT to attend the District tryout, you need to let me know that right away. If you decide after March 1, 2008 that you do not want to go, you will be billed for the total registration fee. The registration fee covers airfare, hotel, ground transportation, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Friday, breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday, all ice times, and a jersey. You might need additional money for other food. Parents are allowed to attend the tryout but the players are not allowed to leave with a parent at anytime. Parents can see and talk with players at the rink but other than that, they are off limits. Players should check in at least 30 minutes prior to first ice time in their age group. Team assignments will be handed out at that time.

The Alaska State Hockey Association will be conducting tryouts for the Alaska Select Program on January 4-6, 2008 in Anchorage at Ben Boeke Arena. The tryouts are open to any youth male player who is registered with USA Hockey for 2007-2008 and in the following birth years: 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994. The "Non-refundable" tryout fee will be sixty five ($65.00) dollars. The tryout fee includes a jersey that the player will get to keep at the end of the tryout. REGISTRATION will be done by mail ONLY.
THERE WILL BE NO WALK IN REGISTRATIONS Your registration forms along with a check or money order made payable to Alaska State Hockey Association (ASHA) must be postmarked by December 14, 2007 or the player will not be allowed to tryout. Players are not required to be at all of the tryouts but the evaluators will have a hard time evaluating a player who is not on the ice. The tryouts are open to the public, but the evaluators are off limits to EVERYBODY. The players selected to move on to the Pacific District tryout will be announced on this site January 13th, 2008 FORMS:

DISTRICT TRYOUT INFO:
The District tryout information can be found by visiting the Pacific District Website. The District Camp is invite only. If you cannot make the Alaska State tryout, you must contact me right away. Medical hardship cases will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
