California is known for its sun and beaches, but the Cal Selects 16 & Under girls’ hockey team is trying to change that. “People don’t realize we have ice,” Cal Selects forward Megan Niesluchowski said. Hockey’s hotbeds are found mostly in the Midwest and Northeast, but they can play a little hockey in Southern California, too. On Sunday, Niesluchowski scored with :34.4 to play in the third period, leading Cal Selects to a 2-1 victory over Team Illinois at USA Hockey's 16 & Under National Championship.
