2004 National Championship - Girls - 16U

Ten seconds into USA Hockey's Girls National Championship 16U final on Sunday, a major part of Honeybaked's game plan was, well, fried. The Michigan team's opponents, the Syracuse (N.Y.) Stars, however, could have had it even worse at that point. Honeybaked had come into the game hoping to avoid penalties, but after those first 10 seconds, one of their players was called for a five-minute major and a game misconduct for checking from behind, and Syracuse's Kara Buehler was lying on the ice injured. The resulting five-minute power play worked to the Stars' advantage. Emily Lotkowictz scored her first goal of the tournament 1:32 into the power play, and Syracuse went on to a 3-1 victory and the first championship of the newly created 16U age group.
