    WOMEN’S REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT CAMP
    July 22 - 29, 2011


    OBJECTIVES
    To instill a wealth of information that can be taken back to various regions by the participants and shared with
    officials at the local level. To instruct, in depth, the basic skills necessary to establish a foundation of officiating skills that will
    allow each participant to achieve success at higher levels of officiating. To identify those young developing officials who have
    the necessary skills, abilities and desires to achieve these levels.


    CRITERIA FOR ATTENDANCE AT CAMP
    The applicant must:
    * Actively officiate in the district from which she has applied.
    * Be a USA Hockey Completely Registered Official (Level 2, 3 or 4).
    * Be an American citizen or a landed immigrant.
    * Between 18 and 35 years of age (Recommended).
    * Be an excellent skater.
    * Be proficient at working at competitive levels of hockey.
    * Have the desire to develop their personal officiating skills.
    * Be mature enough to be able to learn advanced techniques of officiating and put them into proper
    perspective relative to amateur hockey games.
    * Be willing to take learned information back to her local area and assist others with this information.

    APPLICATION
    Regional Officials Camps will be attended by invitation only.
    Applications MUST be submitted through District Referees-in-Chief ONLY!
    March 25, 2011 - DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS TO YOUR DISTRICT REFEREE-IN-CHIEF.
    Late applications, FAX copies or those not submitted through the District Referee-in-Chief will not be accepted.

    SELECTION PROCESS
    Applications will be reviewed and participants selected by the Officiating Program Staff with input from the USA
    Hockey Referee-in-Chief, District Referees-in-Chief, Instructors and Local Supervisors. Participants will be selected on the
    basis of their hockey officiating ability, personal character, conduct, school record and ambitions.
    NOTE: The chances of a participant attending a second Regional Officials Camp are minimal. Only in very special instances
    will an official be invited back to attend a second Regional Camp.

    COSTS
    A $90 administrative fee, per participant, will be billed to each participant upon acceptance. This fee will be due in
    the office prior to final confirmation. The fee is non-refundable to all selected participants. All transportation to the camp
    location is to be supplied and paid for by the participant. USA Hockey will supply and pay for room, board and instructors
    fees.


    INSTRUCTORS
    Instructors will be selected from the top American officials who are currently working in the National Hockey
    League, American Hockey League, ECHL, NCAA Division I and IIHF World Championships. Other top instructors within
    the USA Hockey Officiating Education Program, including District Referees-in-Chief and Local Supervisors of Officials will
    also be considered.


    TYPICAL DAILY SCHEDULE
    Early Morning: 2 mile run - On-Ice Power skating (Stretching, Power skating, Skating Drills) - Breakfast
    Morning: Classroom - Lunch
    Afternoon: Classroom - On-Ice Training (Mechanics) - Dryland Training - Dinner
    Evening: Game Experience (USA Hockey Girls’ Select 14-15 Festivals) - Review of game films
