Welcome to USA Hockey's Webmaster FAQ. We have posted some to the common questions we have received about our new web platform. We will continue to add material as it becomes available.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    Updated 2.01.12

    General

We will begin posting entries to this page as we move forward with implementation of the CMS upgrade.

    General Editing

What browsers and versions can I use for editing?
The new CMS supports most of the newer version browsers, including Safari on the Mac. We have not yet tested all browsers and versions, however we are recommending Firefox 9.x or IE 8.x at this time.

What are my choices for on-page editing?

Because of the use of the Legacy widget and Smart form, there are several different on-page editing modes, depending on the use of these items:

    1. Content within the Legacy widget: This content must be edited from the CMS Work Area. You can open the Work Area from the silver bullet editing menu.
    2. Content still in the Smart Form, but placed in a Content widget: This content may be edited in a limited Work Area editing window, which can be opened by choosing "Edit" in the silver bullet pop-up menu.
    3. Content in a simple HTML content file: This content can be edited with the "Edit in Place" feature or the "Edit" feature from the silver bullet pop-up menu.

Do I need to install or keep using the Ektron Plug-ins from the previous version?
No, the new CMS is all browser based. It does not require the use or installation of plug-ins or browser add-ons. Once we have launched the new CMS to production, you can remove the previous plug-ins.

What is the 'Pagebuilder" you refer to?
The Pagebuilder is the new feature that allows editing directly on the webpage. The main component of the pagebuilder is the blue editing ribbon that stretches across the top of the page when in editing mode. From the ribbon, the widget bar ("pull chain") extends down to allow access to the widget functions.
