Honeybaked secured a Saturday quarterfinal date against Team Illinois with a 3-1 triumph over Central Massachusetts on Friday.

The Westchester (N.Y.) Express has stood out in the Tier I 14 & Under Nationals as the field’s elite eight prepares for Saturday’s quarterfinal action.

The best player for Honeybaked’s Tier I 14 & Under team in the USA Hockey Michigan District Tournament championship game was clear to those watching the 1995-born players for the first time. But the big guy on the ice who was making plays and scoring wasn’t the most likely man for the title at the beginning the season.

The 14-Under LA Selects capped off a dominant run in the 2010 Pacific District Tournament the only way they knew how — head onto the ice and go light up the net.

Early March was a time of great jubilation for many youth hockey teams across the country. For the Central Mass Outlaws, it was simply a time to get reacquainted. The Outlaws were one of the 14-U Tier-I teams to qualify for the USA Hockey National Championship, and while many of the other squads did so this month, the Outlaws won the USA Hockey Atlantic District title back in November.

Measuring 5 feet, 8 inches and 150 pounds, Taylor Cammarata isn’t exactly an imposing figure on the ice. There’s no question he can hang with the big boys, though. The sensational forward for Shattuck-St. Mary’s in Minnesota went into the USA Hockey Tier I 14 & Under National Championships with a remarkable 95 goals and 83 assists in 60 games.
