Sanctioning Games Against Non-USA Hockey Teams

Games between USA Hockey teams and non USA Hockey teams (i.e. Federation High School) shall be allowed when the game is sanctioned by USA Hockey.  For example, when a Federation High School team plays a USA Hockey team the game must be sanctioned by the District Registrar.  Sanctioning requires the USA Hockey team to complete the Special Events Sanction form prior to the game and that it be sent to the District Registrar for approval.  It is highly recommended that all games requiring sanctioning be requested prior to the season.  Any games requiring sanctioning after the initial request must be requested as soon as they are scheduled to allow time for USA Hockey to sanction the game.  USA Hockey teams shall be limited to a total six (6) such games during the current season.

    2010 USA Hockey National Championship

    VARSITY DIVISION
    April 14 - 18, 2010
    Edge Ice Arena, Bensenville, IL

The Varsity Division (Male and Female teams) is defined as pure  teams (High School Division II1) that are community based public high schools, private schools drawing their students exclusively from a local metropolitan area (excluding any school that boards players). OR, a combined team (High School Division I2) from a State that has NO pure teams. Representation from each state will be determined by the State Affiliate participating in the tournament. Billeted players competing on Tier I, Tier II or Junior teams are not eligible to compete in the High School Varsity National Tournament.  Participation is restricted to amateurs who are full time students (grades 9-12), and 19 years old or under as of December 31st of the Playing Season. Eligibility is not to exceed eight (8) consecutive semesters starting with a player’s freshman year. (Clarification: Those High School students graduating midyear, are no longer full time students and therefore, are not eligible to play on a Varsity High School hockey team, effective on their last day of attending classes full time).

Each governing Affiliate will determine the state representatives through whatever means it determines as best for the Affiliate and players.

1 High School Division II (pure teams) - Formal high school teams consisting of full-time students attending the same high school or full-time students that are eligible to play sanctioned varsity high school sports at that school.

2 High School Division I (combined teams) - Formal high school teams consisting of full-time students attending high school.
