Registrars, This is a guide to help answer some of the questions of the registration process for the SAHOF Championships. Per SAHOF rule that was adopted at the SAHOF meeting in August 30,2006, Any team wishing to be considered for a berth in the SAHOF Championships must register (official USA Hockey Roster signed by Cindy Friedman), as Tier I or Tier II. AAA, AA or A. You have until 12/31 to register your team but you must meet the 10/20 rule BEFORE the State championships. - Since USAH software no longer classifies Mites & Squirts as Tier I or Tier II Mites & Squirts should register as a "Rec" team. "A or AA"
- Other than Mites and Squirts no "Rec" or Tournament teams will be allowed to participate any level.
- Teams that are not playing in any of the state leagues, SFHL, CFHL or FAHL will be considered independent teams and will only be considered as Tier I teams, and will only be able to participate at the Tier I level.
- Teams that are "playing up" in their league are not eligible to participate.
- Tier I teams must have their teams registered and submit a “Declaration of intent to Participate” to the SAHOF President. Deadline is October 31st All Tier 1 teams must be properly registered as National Bound, at the time of declaration and must provide the Tournament Committee with a copy of their USAH Roster.
- Teams will have to qualify in order to receive a berth in the Championship playoffs. Teams will be selected based on their position in their respective leagues and division i.e.…AA or A, at the end of the season.
- All Teams and Players must adhere to the 10/20 rule. This means a player must play in at least 10 games and the team must play in at least 20 games together after their roster has been certified by Cindy Friedman. (Mites requirement is 8/12) and before the State Championships.
- Multiple Roster-Per USA HOCKEY & SAHOF Rules No Player can be rostered on more than one Tier I or Tier II team.(AAA, AA ,or A). National Bound does not have any meaning.
- The December 31 team declaration deadline is for Mites, Squirts, Girls, and Juniors only this deadline does not apply to any other age group.
- A player can be rostered on multiple teams as long as both teams are not registered as Tier I or II. (example one of the two teams has to be designated as a “Rec team" with no intention to participate in any SAHOF Championship)
- Juniors- As per the USA Hockey annual guideline any player that participates in a Junior level game after December 31 forgoes his eligibility to play on any Tier I or Tier II youth team.
- Per USA Hockey Rules all rosters are frozen after December 31.
