International Ice Centre of Romeoville                   In House League

IIC will be forming a no travel house league at the mite, squirt, and pee wee (no checking) level in September. Players will participate in an evaluation September 12 and be placed on teams balancing the talent.

Young athletes under train and over compete. Adult competition is superimposed on young athletes. Training in the early years focuses on outcomes (winning) rather than processes (optimal training). A player’s chronological age dominates training rather than biological age. Teams draft the Jan-Mar birthdates over the Oct-Dec birthdates in 805 of the higher competitive teams.

This new house league will be based on the American Development Model (see USAHockey.com) where the emphasis will be on development of skills, quality instruction and FUN. No longer will the house league player be treated with “less” instruction and training. Your registration will include a weekday skills session, practice directed by skilled coaches on Saturday and games on Sunday; everyone plays equal time. Extra training sessions will be available for those wanting enhanced instruction.
