USA Hockey will help the International Ice Hockey Federation celebrate its 100th anniversary by staging a 24-Hour Hockey Game. Beginning in Maine on Friday, Feb. 29, at 12 noon EST, each of the lower 48 states will play a 30-minute running-time game in succession from East coast to West coast. Hawaii and Alaska will each play a 30-minute running-time “overtime” period with the game concluding at 1 p.m. EST on Saturday, March 1. In each game, one team will be designated “Stars” and one team “Stripes.” A national score will be kept at 24HourHockeyGame.com. Each participant in the game will receive a commemorative luggage tag. |
