2017 Sled Classic, Presented by the NHL, General Information

General Information

  • The USA Hockey Sled Classic, Presented by the NHL will be November 16-19, 2017 at the Plymouth Ice Center.
  • The Minnesota Wild and Minnesota Hockey will host the event.
  • The Primary facility will be the Plymouth Ice Center (360, Plymouth Blvd., Plymouth MN 55446), however is additional time time is needed to suit the needs of the tournament, ice time may be utilized at other rinks in the local surrounding area.
  • Teams participating must be affiliated with a respective NHL Club and wear their NHL Club's jersey (replicas are permitted). 
  • Teams participating must obtain and provide a letter from their respective NHL Club's community outreach staff member, on the club's letterhead, indicating the club's approval of the corresponding sled team participation.  Such letter must be emailed to dublj95@aol.com no later than October 15, 2017.
  • The Sled Classic, Presented by the NHL, is targeting five divisions: Tier I, Tier II, Tier III, Tier IV and Tier IV.  Teams registering will select the division they wish to participate in, but USA Hockey will place teams in the appropriate division to provide a fair and competitive tournament.
  • Teams MUST register online at www.USAHockeySledClassic.com.  The deadline to register is September 24, 2017.
  • The team registration fee is $525 if paying by credit card or $500 if paying by check.  If paying by check, payment must be received no later than October 15, 2017.
  • Games will begin early evening on Thursday, November 16, 2017 and will end on Sunday, November 19, 2017 no later than 3:00 p.m.  The final schedule will be releases as soon as all registered teams are confirmed.
  • This is a competitive adult tournament (all ages)
  • All registered teams must email a completed official roster form (available here) to dublj95@aol.com, including any Player Waiver Request Forms, no later than October 1, 2017.  Once your roster is approved, a return email will be sent by October 8, 2017 indicating your team is approved to participate in the 2017 Sled Classic, Presented by the NHL.
  •  All players, pushers, coaches and volunteers must be properly registered with USA Hockey or Hockey Canada.  
  • US Teams must email an Official Hockey Roster, from the USA Hockey Registry Portal, to jeremyk@usahockey.org no later than October 15, 2017.  
  • Canadian teams must email a letter from Hockey Canada indicating all participants are members in good standing to jeremyk@usahockey.org no later than October 15, 2017.
  • The 2017 Sled Classic, Presented by the NHL, will follow all USA Hockey playing rules published in the 2017-21 USA Hockey Playing Rules Book and the 2017-18 USA Hockey Official Sled Hockey Rulebook.
  • The 2017 Sled Hockey Classic, Presented by the NHL, will follow all rules, regulations and guidelines as published in the 2017-18 USA Hockey Official Guidebook for Sled Hockey
