September 13, 2009 - St. Jude Travel Teams are members of the Northern Illinois Hockey League (NIHL).  NIHL consists of over 35 hockey clubs comprising of over 400 teams.  At the beginning of each hockey season, NIHL allows for teams to enter themselves into the level of play where they believe their team should be placed.  NIHL then organizes the teams into divisions and orchestrates which teams will play each other during a seeding round.  The seeding round consists of 8 games (4 home and 4 away). At the end of seeding play, NIHL then places all the teams into the proper metallic level that NIHL believes they should play.  The majority of the teams remain in the same metallic level which they originally seeded themselves but other teams get either moved up or down based upon how they performed in seeding play.

Regular season then begins and 16 games are played (8 home and 8 away).  The season then culminates with the Wolves Cup.
