Host Hotel selected for PYHA Tournaments 2007-2008

Pueblo's Marriott Hotel has been selected as the host hotel for PYHA hockey tournaments this season.

The Marriott is conveniently located across the street from the arena and is offering the following room rates for tournaments this season:

December 28-30 (50 rooms @ $69.00)  

January 19-21 (50 rooms @ $79.00)

February 29-March 2 - (20 rooms @ $79.00 for March 1st only) - Hotel booked for large convention.  If rooms become available, rate will be at the $79.00.

PYHA Tournament Rules 2007-2008

PUEBLO PANTHER CLASSIC

TOURNAMENT RULES AND PROCEDURES

(Revised 11/04/07) 

1.  Entry Fee:

Entry fee for all divisions will be as followed:  $1000.00 per Midget team, $900.00 per Bantam, per Peewee, and per Squirt team.  **Note:   Full-Ice, Jamboree, and 8 & under team fees will be determined after CDYHL recommendations.  Check or money orders shall be made out to Pueblo Youth Hockey Association (PYHA), PO Box 4348, Pueblo, CO, 81003   Attention: Tournament Director.

A.  Teams will not be accepted into the tournament until full payment is received.

B.  Registration, Rosters, Coaches’ cards & payment must be received 4 weeks prior to the tournament.

C.  Reimbursement will be given only if tournament is cancelled or team is not accepted in the tournament.

2.  Team Selection Process:

A.  Teams will be admitted on a first come, first serve basis once full payment and all forms are completed and received by the tournament director.

B.  Teams who do not fit the division qualifications will be given berth only if enough qualified teams in the division do not enter.  These teams will be admitted using the procedure stated above.

3.  Spectator Fees:

There will be no spectator fees.

4.  Levels of Competition:

A.  Levels of competition will be determined after PYHA teams register with USA Hockey and CAHA.

B.  Teams will be fielded in Mini-Mite, Mite, Squirt, Peewee, Bantam, and Midget levels.

C.  All-Star teams will be required to play at the highest level of play.  Tournament director can change at their discretion.

5.  Team and Player Credentials:

 All players must be listed on the roster submitted to the tournament director.  No additions may be made after the tournament application and roster is received.  All players must be listed on the Official Certified USA Hockey Roster. Credentials will be checked prior to each team=s first game.  A team representative is to report 1 hour prior to the first game.  Official Certified USA Hockey Roster and Player Birth Certificates will be verified at this time.  Any team found to have a player not on the submitted roster and USA hockey roster will be deemed an ineligible player.  Any team found to have an ineligible player playing in any of the tournament games will forfeit the game.

6.  Coaching Credentials:

All coaches will be required to present his/her coaching card before all games.

7.  Uniform Colors:

Teams should bring a set of dark jerseys and a set of light jerseys.

8.  Number of Games:

Four game guarantee for Squirt level and up.  Three game minimum for Mite and Mini-Mite level.  Teams may be required to play every 2 hours.

9.  Length of Games

If a game is running over the required time, notification will be given to the coaches or team managers of   both teams and the officials will determine the amount of time to be cut from the game. 

10.  Tournament Format

Depending on how many teams are participating at each level we will notify each team manager and coach of the tournament format one week prior to the tournament.

11.  Length of Periods

All games will consist of three (3) periods, the first two periods will be 15 minutes running time and the third period will be a 12 minutes stop time.  Note:  During the stop clock period, the clock will stop for all whistle blows.  Time will stop for injuries and team time outs – all periods.

12.  Scoring:

A.  Points will be awarded as follows: 2 points will be awarded for a win.  1 point will be awarded to each team in case of a tie.  Teams will not be awarded any points for a loss.

B.  Forfeits: The offending team will be assessed a loss.  The non-offending team will be awarded a 1-0 win plus 2 points. 

13.  Tie Breaking Rules

If 2 or more teams have an equal number of points, their position in the standings will be determined by the result of all games played by the team in the following order:

A.  Head to head competition.

B.  Subtracting goals scored against from goals scored for, the position being determined by the greatest difference.

C.  Least Penalty Minutes.

D.  Coin toss by Tournament Director.

In the case of a three-way tie, the tie will be broken by:

Least amount of penalty minutes per team then if two teams are still tied then they go back to the rules listed above.

14.  Overtime:

Semi-final and championship games will not end in a tie. If a semi-final or championship game is tied at the end of regulation time, a 5 minute (stop clock), 4 on 4, sudden death overtime period will be played. Penalties will 
carry over from regulation play. If the game remains tied after the overtime period, a shoot out will decide the outcome. Each team will select 5 shooters and a goaltender from their roster. Shooters will alternate taking penalty shots at the opponent's goaltender. The team with the most goals after five shots will be declared the winner. If still tied, the 
shoot out will continue using an additional skater from each team until a winner is established. Teams must use all of the skaters on their roster before any previous chosen skaters are eligible to shoot again. Each team will take the same number of shots.

15.  Mercy Rule:

The clock will become a running clock at a 5 goals differential.  The game clock will revert to stop time when the goal differential is reduced to less than 5.

16.  Reporting Time to Arena, Locker Rooms & Ice:

A.  Teams must report to the arena at least 45 minutes prior to scheduled games.

B.  Teams must then report to their locker room and be assembled at least 15 minutes prior to each  scheduled game.

C.  Teams must be on the bench and ready to be on the ice at least 5 minutes prior to scheduled game.

17.  Locker Rooms:

A.  The coach or responsible adult will be in the locker rooms with the team at all times and is responsible for the locker room and making sure locker room is cleaned before leaving.

B.  Teams will be responsible to any damages done to locker rooms or any other area of the arena.

C.  Pueblo Youth Hockey Association and the Pueblo Plaza Ice Arena are not responsible for any items left in the locker rooms or at the arena.

18.  Protests and Disputes:

Per CDYHL guidelines, Referee calls and decisions will be final.  NO protests or disputes will be allowed.

19.  Conduct:

PYHA Tournaments will be conducted under USA Hockey Guidelines.  The tournament committee will deal with disorderly conduct.  This conduct may include ejection from the arena and/or tournament.  Zero tolerance and Code of Conduct will be strictly enforced.

20.  Awards:

Team trophies and individual awards will be awarded to 1st and 2nd place teams.
