The New York State Amateur Hockey Association is proud of the fact that we continue to look for opportunities to help the growth and development of Girls/Womens hockey! We are proud of the fact that we have teams competing for state and national titles, players competing at all levels of college hockey, have had Olympians from our state, and offer a number of player development opportunities for girls of all ages and abilities. This continues to be an exciting and challenging time in the female game and we look forward to your input and assistance in improving what we do!

NYSAHA Girls Player Development Opportunities
The NYSAHA has a long history of offering skill development opportunities for our female players. Our programs are designed to meet a variety of skill and age levels. Below is a description of what we offer and what has been offered in the past:
2009 Girls/Womens Opportunities
- District Evaluation Weekend in March after State Tournament and prior to Nationals. This weekend serves as a tool for players ages 14-17 to see how they compare to other females of the same age. All players that attend the camp are evaluated by a qualified staff and are given general feedback as to their skill and hockey abilities based on the performances observed during the weekend. The weekend is also used to determine the players New York will send to the USA Hockey National Camps.
- District Development Festival
- To be held in August in Lake Placid.
- 15 - 20 Players will be selected from each zone.
- Teams would play in a round robin tournament with an emphasis on friendly, cooperative competition and expanded hockey knowledge.
- Overnight accommodations would be used. Off-ice sessions would include guest speakers on such topics as nutrition, college opportunities in hockey, proper weight training, etc.
