Girl Scouts of Middle TN "Put the Biscuit in the Net"The NWIHL (Nashville Women's Ice Hockey League) is preparing to host middle Tennessee Girl Scouts in mid to late April in a pilot program co-sponsored by USA Hockey and Girl Scouts of America called "Put the Biscuit in the Net". This program will be open to all current (and new) Girl Scouts age 5 to 19. All sessions will be held at the Centennial Sportsplex. The program consists of three 1-hour ON ICE experiences for the girls. The first teaches skating, the second teaches how to use the stick and puck, and the third puts the girls in a game situation to try out their new skills and knowledge. We will be providing all the equipment (on loan) these girls need to try the sport, lots of coaches and encouragement, and -- best of all -- it's only $10 per girl for them to participate! Anyone interested in helping us promote the sport of Girls and Women's ice hockey is invited to register for an organizational and training session. TO REGISTER: Contact Chris Scholer with your name and contact numbers/email at 615-883-1858 or ecscholer@att.netOther Details: Depending on Girl Scout interest, 2 to 3 program sessions will be offered initially. Donations/Loans ofvarious size hockey equipment will be needed Volunteer to Girl Scout ratios are very low, so lots of volunteers are neededAll ON-ICE volunteers must be USA Hockey certified coaches. Off-ice volunteers are needed to helpthe girls get equipment on and off and fitted right. We are looking for corporate sponsors to donate items or funds for the event such as water, jerseys, sticks, pucks, snacks, etc. By C. Scholer, NWIHL
