The Janesville In-House Program Information

The Hockey Development Committee has made some important changes to our In-House Development Program. The core of the program will remain the same, which is a focus on providing an affordable, fun and challenging learning environment where kids can learn skating and basic hockey skills. However, we will provide an improved practice schedule, more development for older kids, and much less game travel for those participating in Cross-Ice and Half-Ice games. Highlights of the 2008-09 program guidelines include:

  • 4 months of hockey for only $130......$90 for kids 6 & under.
  • Practices start 1st wk of November and end last wk of February.
  • Practices 2x week during most weeks and a handful of games later in the year.
  • Games conveniently played in Janesville & local rinks only. Games will be Cross-Ice for 6-8 yr old participants and Half-Ice for 9-10 yr old participants and more advanced 6-8 yr olds.
  • Half-Ice games start in December & Cross-Ice games start in January.
  • Separate practices 1x week for older Atoms skaters and younger Ice Mite skaters to provide age appropriate training and skill development.
  • All equipment provided except skates and stick.
  • All coaches certified by USA Hockey.
  • Skaters divided into like skill groups after 3rd practice to optimize learning.
  • Practices and Skill Development patterned after recommended USA Hockey program that includes small-area and cross-ice games to maximize skating, participation, and puck handling.
  • One hr practices Thursday nights (5:40) and Saturday mornings for 4-8 yr old Ice Mites.
  • One hr practices Thursday nights (6:40) and Sunday mornings for 9-10 yr old Atoms and more advanced 6-8 yr olds.
