HINSDALE CENTRAL H.S.
55th and Grant Hinsdale, Illinois 60521
Located 17 miles west of Chicago, Hinsdale Central High School serves a residential area of approximately 35,000 people living in the western suburbs of Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills, and Oak Brook, as well as portions of Burr Ridge, Willowbrook, and Westmont. Parent demographics show a predominantly professional, executive, or managerial career occupation.
The older and larger of two four year senior high schools in District 86, Central's enrollment is approximately 2600 students.
Central students are highly involved in school activities. There is an extremely rich tradition in athletics with twenty three varsity sports available to men and women. Hinsdale Central athletes have captured 65 state championships, the second most among high schools in the state. In addition, over sixty percent of the student body participates in at least one of the 55 active clubs or organizations which are available.
Hinsdale Central Hockey Club is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization, independent of the high school. Founded in 1972, the HCHC is parent run, dedicated to player and character development for decades… a long history rich in tradition and reputation.
History
The Hinsdale Central Hockey Club was founded in 1972, by newly arrived Hinsdale resident, F. Regis Kenna. Plans were made to form a club organization typical for the period and today, an organization independent of the high school. Coaches were hired to hold tryouts, assess talent and train the athletes. Tryouts were announced and produced a much higher than expected turnout, enough talented players to form both Varsity and JV teams. A parent run organization staffed by independent coaches dedicated to player development came to life.
