For a few moments, even the chattiest among the throng of teen girls were struck silent at the sight of three stars of Olympic hockey. It was a special evening, a chance for girls who love to play hockey to meet Olympian and current U.S. National team member Caitlin Cahow, former Canadian Olympian Manon Rheaume and U.S. National team coach/Olympian Mark Johnson.

Angela Ruggiero Nominated for Jefferson Award for Public Service

U.S. Women's National Team member Angela Ruggiero (Simi Valley, Calif.) was nominated for the Jefferson Award for Public Service. The three-time Olympian (1998, 2002, 2006) joins 52 other athletes as nominees for the national recognition system honoring community and public service in America. Jessie Vetter Named Sportswoman of the Year by Women's Sports Foundation

Jessie VetterTeam USA netminder Jessie Vetter (Cottage Grove, Wis.) was today named the Sportswoman of the Year at the Women's Sports Foundation's 30th Annual Salute to Women in Sports Awards Dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Vetter, who was recognized for her accomplishments with both the U.S. Women's National Hockey Team and the University of Wisconsin women's hockey team, is the first ice hockey player to receive the international award, which is determined via fan vote.
