The purpose of the ACHA is to support quality, unity and regulation of four-year intercollegiate hockey programs nationwide. In order to do this, the ACHA has developed organization By-Laws and a Policies and Procedures Manual to provide the policy foundation for the organization as it works to fulfill its purpose. All ACHA teams are members of USA Hockey and joined the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) in 1999.
USA Hockey today announced the 22-player U.S. University Select Team roster, as well as six alternates, for the upcoming 2009 Winter World University Games. The event will take place in Harbin, China, from Feb. 18-28, 2009.
USA Hockey today announced that Joe Augustine has been named head coach of the 2009 United States University Select Team, which will compete at the Winter World University Games, to be held Feb. 18-28, 2009, in Harbin, China.
The ACHA crowned five National Champions during the month of March. Congratulations to all team and to all champions. The Men’s Division I concluded with the University of Illinois defeating Lindenwood University 4 – 2. The University of Illinois is only the second team in ACHA history to record an undefeated season and win the National Championship. The U of I finished an astounding 38 – 0 – 0 for the 2007-08 season. The only other team to achieve this feat was Iowa State University during the 1991-92 season. Illinois Team Photo The Men’s Division II saw an extremely talented Davenport University team defeat Indiana University 5 – 2 in Naples, Fla., at the Germain Arena (Home of the ECHL’s Florida Everblades). Photo The Women’s Division I and Division II were held in Chicago, IL and saw Lindenwood University defeat Robert Morris College by a score of 2 - 1 to earn it’s second National Championship. The Rainy River Community College Voyageurs topped the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs 6 - 4, to capture their first ACHA Women's Division II Championship.
