Some of the most experienced coaches and administrators in hockey -- including 2010 U.S. Olympic head coaches Ron Wilson and Mark Johnson -- spoke to more than 550 coaches registered from around the United States at USA Hockey's National Hockey Coaches Symposium. The event was held at the RiverCentre in St. Paul, Minn.

In response to the many coaches who have inquired about the event's ending time, we are adjusting the Saturday schedule to end between 4:15 and 4:30. This should allow those of you who are trying to leave on Saturday night the opportunity to make an evening flight. I hope it’s not too late for you to book your ticket to leave on Saturday if you so desire. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause those of you who have already booked travel. ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS: USA Hockey members who have completed their coaching certification Levels 1-4. Coaches certified at Level 3 will be accepted only if space is available, and will receive only Level 4 certification.

USA HOCKEY COACHING EDUCATION PROGRAM – LEVEL 5: Candidates for the Level 5 of USA Hockey’s Coaching Education Program can fulfill their symposium requirement by attending the National Hockey Coaches Symposium.

LEVEL 5 REQUIREMENTS: Candidates for Level 5 certification must attend the entire National Hockey Coaches Symposium. Additional  Information regarding submitted material requirements (thesis or other written material) will be posted on usahockey.com as soon as the criteria are finalized.

ACCOMMODATIONS: The Crowne Plaza St. Paul Riverfront will serve as the host hotel for the 2009 National Hockey Coaches Symposium. Guest reservations can be made by calling the Crowne Plaza Riverfront Hotel directly at (651) 292-1900. Attendees will receive a special group rate of $124.00 per night plus tax (single or double occupancy). Be sure to mention that you are a National Hockey Coaches Symposium attendee; this will ensure that you receive the special rate. Rooms are available at this rate through July 15, 2009, or until the room block is full, whichever occurs first.
